Job summary

Prospero Teaching in Cardiff is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11-16 in a well-regarded secondary school. The role focuses on academic progress, emotional well-being, organisation and self-regulation, with a view to developing confidence and independence.

Start date September 2026, ongoing contract, salary 95-109 GBP per day, working hours 08:30–15:30, and a commitment to safeguarding and high expectations.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with ADHD, SEMH needs, or other SEND.
• Strong understanding of ADHD and strategies to support attention, engagement and regulation.
• Strong behaviour management, communication and teamwork skills.
• Secondary school experience is desirable.
• Qualifications in Education, Psychology, Youth Work, SEND, or related field are advantageous but not essential.
• Genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

• Support the students in maintaining focus, engagement, and participation during lessons
• Implement strategies to support attention, organisation, time management, and emotional regulation
• Help manage transitions between lessons and different school environments
• Promote positive behaviour and help students meet individual targets
• Build a strong professional relationship with the student based on trust and encouragement
• Monitor and report on the student's progress, well-being, and engagement
