Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of needs, including SEMH and challenging behaviour. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, emotional and academic assistance, and collaborating with teaching and pastoral teams to foster pupil resilience.

The ideal candidate has experience in schools or PRUs, with a calm, patient approach and strong communication skills to build relationships with pupils and staff.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working within a school, PRU or alternative provision setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH.
• Confident managing challenging behaviour.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
• Providing emotional, behavioural and academic support.
• Managing challenging behaviour using positive and consistent strategies.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Working closely with teaching staff and the wider pastoral team.
• Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
