Job summary

Premier Education is recruiting a committed Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils at a specialist secondary school in Manchester. You will work alongside teachers and specialist staff to provide one-to-one and small-group support throughout the school day.

Experience with SEND, resilience and teamwork are essential. The role runs 8.30am–3.30pm, full-time, with a 4-week minimum placement and potential extension. Daily PAYE rates apply (£92.56–£115).

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Experience in school, care, youth work or similar support environment.
  • Patient, compassionate and resilient.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people.
  • Comfortable supporting pupils with complex or challenging needs.
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Reliable and available full-time from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
  • Placement lasting at least four weeks.

  • Helping to maintain a safe, calm and nurturing learning environment

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant

£92.56 - £115 per day (depending on experience). PAYE only.

Premier Education is recruiting a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils at a specialist secondary school in Manchester. There is access from surrounding areas including Miles Platting, Newton Heath, Harpurhey, Collyhurst, Moston and Manchester city centre.

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant - about the school

The school supports secondary-aged pupils and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Pupils may have a range of needs, including:

  • Autism (ASC)
  • Communication and interaction needs
  • Moderate or severe learning difficulties
  • Social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Sensory and physical needs
  • Complex additional needs

The purpose-built setting provides calm, structured learning environments, specialist teaching spaces and opportunities for individual and small-group support.

Staff work together to help every pupil develop academically, socially and emotionally while building confidence and independence.

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant - the role

As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and specialist staff to support pupils throughout the school day.

Depending on pupils' individual needs, the role may include personal care or physical support. Relevant guidance and training will be provided by the school where required.

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant - requirements

We would like to hear from candidates who:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Have worked in a school, care, youth work or similar support environment
  • Are patient, compassionate and resilient
  • Can build positive and consistent relationships with young people
  • Are comfortable supporting pupils with complex or challenging needs
  • Can work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Are reliable and available full-time from 8.30am until 3.30pm
  • Can commit to a placement lasting at least four weeks

A relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualification would be beneficial but is not essential where applicants have suitable experience.

The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and safer recruitment checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, sponsorship is not available for this role.
