Job summary

Wayman Education is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer for a secondary school in Watford. The role focuses on providing day-to-day pastoral support, promoting positive relationships and wellbeing, and working with staff to address pupil needs.

You will monitor pupil concerns, maintain records and support attendance, behaviour and reintegration efforts under guidance from pastoral leaders.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in a school, youth work, pastoral or support environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Patient, approachable and confident when dealing with challenging situations.
• Understand safeguarding, confidentiality and accurate record keeping.
• Good organisational skills and ability to work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams.
• Experience supporting attendance, behaviour or wellbeing would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day pastoral support to pupils across the school.
• Promote positive relationships, attendance, behaviour and engagement.
• Monitor pupil concerns and record relevant information.
• Support interventions and communicate with parents and carers.
• Assist with attendance follow-up, behaviour support and reintegration after absence.
• Work with Heads of Year and pastoral staff to implement support strategies.
• Assist during break and lunch periods to resolve issues and encourage positive choices.
