Job summary

Fowey River Academy is seeking a caring, proactive Student Welfare Officer to join our pastoral team. You will support students with attendance, wellbeing and engagement, identify barriers to learning, and work with families, teachers and external agencies to provide targeted support.

You will build positive relationships with students and parents, manage a varied caseload, and contribute to a caring, inclusive school culture that puts students first.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, resilient and approachable professional.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a varied caseload.
• Experience with safeguarding, attendance or wellbeing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support vulnerable and disadvantaged students in the Learning Support Hub, focusing on attendance, wellbeing, behaviour and engagement.
• Use data to identify students needing extra support, plan and evaluate interventions, and adapt provision accordingly.
• Develop positive relationships with parents and carers and keep them informed about welfare, attendance and progress.
• Collaborate with external agencies to provide appropriate support and contribute to the wider pastoral life of the Academy.
• Support students at key transition points and help create a calm, well-ordered environment.
