Job summary

Allestree Woodlands School is seeking a Communications Support Worker to assist the Lead Teacher in the Enhanced Resource Facility for deaf and hard of hearing students. The role focuses on supporting communication, language and the curriculum, in a secondary school environment.

The successful candidate will work 32.5 hours per week across 39 weeks per year, with a permanent contract. A Level 2 BSL (Level 3+ preferred) is expected, and safeguarding procedures including DBS checks will apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 BSL qualification; Level 3 or above preferred.
• Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in a school setting would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support deaf and hard of hearing students in communication and curriculum.
• Liaise with Lead Teacher of the Enhanced Resource Facility to provide in-class support.
• Help students develop independence while providing required support.
