Job summary

Thomas Franks Ltd is seeking a Second Chef for a prestigious co-educational prep school in Tonbridge. The role runs during term time, Monday to Friday, with hours from 7.15am to 2.45pm and a 37.5-hour week. This position offers a professional kitchen environment and free onsite parking.

You will contribute to menu planning and service, uphold high hygiene standards, and support the Head Chef in daily operations. January start preferred. DBS checks apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen operations within a school or similar catering environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all food service areas for the day’s business and meal service.
• Ensure prompt service of meals to company standards.
• Prepare, set up, serve, clear, clean and store away food, beverages and equipment.
• Restock and replenish stocks during service periods and anticipate customer needs.
• Maintain health and safety compliance in all kitchen areas.
• Attend meetings and training as required.
