Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified Second Chef to deliver hotel/restaurant standards using fresh seasonal ingredients, while maintaining a balanced work life with no split shifts.

You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome menus and tailor dishes for residents, ensuring quality and a warm atmosphere across our homes. We value care, openness, and dedication to high standards in healthcare hospitality.

Qualifications

• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
• Good understanding of nutrition.
• Experience with fresh seasonal food.
• Ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within the home.
• Confidence engaging with residents to tailor menus.
• Knowledge of HACCP.

Responsibilities

• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Assist Head Chef in menu development.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes.
• Create a warm, efficient and fun environment.
• Work within budget.
• Complete regular audits.
• Manage stock control.
