Job summary

Burnley High School invites applications for a dedicated Science Teacher on a fixed-term contract starting December 2026 for about 12 months. The successful candidate will teach across KS3 and KS4, deliver a broad, balanced curriculum and support students' progress.

The role requires QTS, a science degree, and a track record of high attainment. We welcome motivated professionals who can contribute to CPD, school improvement and the Education Partnership Trust.

Burnley High School wishes to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed Science Teacher on a fixed term contract from December 2026 for approximately 12 months. The Job

The Science Teacher will:

1. Teach across KS3 & 4 Science
2. Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support the teaching of Science
3. Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher and a form tutor
4. Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
5. Contribute to raising standards of student attainment
6. Share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth

What are the job requirements?

1. Qualified Teacher Status
2. Qualified to at least degree level in a Science based subject/or adequate post degree conversion course
3. Proven record or evidence from teaching practice of potential to help students reach high standards of learning and achievement
4. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and re-prioritise workload when needed
5. A high level of self-awareness – knows strengths and weaknesses and can relate to difficult personality types well
6. Excellent ICT skills for teaching
