Job summary

Avanti Grange Secondary School is seeking a reliable Science Technician to support practical science delivery across our classrooms and laboratories. The role involves preparing equipment, maintaining labs and ensuring COSHH/CLEAPSS compliance, under the guidance of the Science Department.

You will build strong relationships with staff and pupils, contribute to a safe learning environment, and help create engaging, hands-on science experiences for students across the key stages.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of health and safety in school laboratories (COSHH) and CLEAPSS guidance.
• Accurate, methodical, and with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and respond calmly to changing priorities.
• Confident communicator able to work with teaching staff and pupils.
• Commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment and materials for lessons and maintain laboratories.
• Provide practical support to the Science Department on a day-to-day basis.
• Ensure all technical work complies with CLEAPSS and COSHH regulations.
• Build effective professional relationships across the school community.
