Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Science Technician for a well-established secondary school in Islington, London. The role is full-time and permanent, supporting Biology, Chemistry and Physics laboratories to ensure safe, effective practical work.

You will prepare equipment, manage stock, support teachers, and assist with examinations and enrichment activities. COSHH and safety procedures are a key part of the role, with opportunities to contribute to STEM clubs.

Qualifications

• Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience
• Practical knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics
• Experience working with laboratory equipment
• Understanding of laboratory health and safety
• Excellent organisational skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage competing deadlines
• Ability to work independently and within a team

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment and resources for practical Science lessons
• Support Biology, Chemistry and Physics teaching
• Set up experiments and demonstrations
• Prepare solutions and materials where appropriate
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering
• Store chemicals and materials safely
• Maintain appropriate COSHH documentation
• Carry out routine equipment checks
• Identify damaged or faulty equipment
• Support GCSE and A-Level practical assessments
• Prepare resources for examination periods
• Maintain clean, safe and organised laboratories
• Assist with science clubs and STEM enrichment
• Follow school health and safety procedures
• Maintain accurate records relating to equipment and resources
