Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Science Academic Mentor for a secondary school in Newham. You will deliver 1:1 and small-group science support across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, helping students improve knowledge, confidence and exam skills.

The role emphasizes supporting GCSE science, identifying learning gaps and delivering targeted interventions with close collaboration to science teachers and pastoral staff.

Qualifications

• Strong academic background in Science and ability to apply knowledge to classroom context.
• Good knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Physics and GCSE science requirements.
• Experience supporting or tutoring secondary school students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students and staff.
• Ability to build positive relationships and encourage independent learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group Science support to students.
• Support GCSE Science understanding across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
• Identify learning gaps and target development planned with teachers.
• Deliver targeted academic interventions and revision strategies.
• Support exam preparation, past-paper practice and progress tracking.
• Monitor and record student progress and adjust approaches as needed.
• Foster student confidence and independent learning skills.
• Collaborate with Science teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils.
