Job summary

Ribbons & Reeves, a leading Education Recruitment agency in London, is seeking an Academic Mentor for a Waltham Forest school. The role is full-time, term-time only, with immediate start, delivering targeted Maths and Science support to students up to GCSE.

Ideal for graduates aiming for teacher training or education careers. You’ll work alongside experienced teachers, undertake training in teaching, behaviour management and SEND strategies, and gain hands-on experience supporting KS3 and KS4

Qualifications

• 2:1 degree or above in Maths, Science, Engineering or a related subject from a leading UK university.
• Strong subject knowledge up to GCSE level
• Previous experience working with children or young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching or similar
• Excellent communication skills and a patient, proactive approach
• Genuine commitment to supporting students, including those with SEND

Responsibilities

• Delivering targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions across Maths and Science up to GCSE level
• Identifying gaps in students’ knowledge and helping them consolidate key concepts
• Supporting GCSE students with revision, examination preparation and subject-specific confidence
• Providing additional classroom support to students with SEND and other learning needs
• Adapting explanations and resources to suit individual students and their learning needs
• Monitoring progress and sharing feedback with teachers and the wider support team
