Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is sourcing an experienced Caretaker for a welcoming secondary school in Southend-on-Sea, England. The role focuses on keeping the site safe, secure, compliant and fully operational in collaboration with senior leadership.

You will oversee day-to-day management of the school site and facilities, lead the caretaking team, coordinate contractors and repairs, monitor building systems and ensure fire, water and security checks are up to date, responding promptly to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance or caretaking experience is preferred, but candidates with the right practical skills will also be considered.
• You will be practical, dependable and proactive, with the ability to identify problems and resolve them efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day management of the school site and facilities.
• Lead and coordinate the site and caretaking team.
• Manage contractors, maintenance works and reactive repairs.
• Monitor building systems, utilities and site infrastructure.
• Coordinate statutory compliance checks and maintain accurate records.
• Oversee fire safety, water safety, emergency lighting and security checks.
• Respond to emergencies and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
