Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a School Caretaker for a busy Dorset secondary school, starting October 2026. The role focuses on day-to-day site operations, safety, and maintaining a conducive learning environment.

You will manage building systems, respond to emergencies, and liaise with staff, students, and parents to support school operations and energy efficiency on a large campus.

Qualifications

• Experience in site management, caretaking, maintenance or facilities operations in education or commercial settings.
• Ability to manage safety, building systems, and emergency responses with calm professionalism.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for running a large campus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day site operations and act as a first responder for site security and maintenance.
• Manage the Building Management System (BMS) to ensure energy efficiency and climate control.
• Coordinate with staff, students and parents to support the school ethos.
• Identify hazards, perform daily walk-throughs and rectify maintenance needs.
