Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is sourcing a reliable School Caretaker for a welcoming secondary school in Cambridge. This is a full-time, permanent role starting as soon as possible, focused on keeping the site safe, clean, and well-presented at all times.

You will work closely with the site team and senior leaders to support the smooth day-to-day running of the school and enable a positive environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaker, site assistant, or maintenance experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance and health & safety.
• Hands-on, practical approach with good problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Opening and closing the school site daily.
• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks.
• Ensuring health and safety standards across the premises.
• Monitoring site security, including alarms and access control.
• Assisting with setting up rooms for events and activities.
• Liaising with external contractors when required.
