Job summary

Protocol Education Limited is seeking a reliable School Caretaker for a secondary school in Newham. This full-time, ASAP-start role involves maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented site, supporting with events and daily operations.

You will carry out repairs, routine checks and basic trades, while ensuring health and safety compliance and site security. Prior school maintenance experience and a valid DBS are essential.

Qualifications

• Prior maintenance experience in a school or similar setting.
• Must-have: DBS on update service and prior school work experience.
• Reliable, proactive and hardworking with attention to safety.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY across the school site.
• Complete daily checks of buildings, grounds and facilities and report issues promptly.
• Ensure premises are safe, secure and well maintained.
• Assist with setting up and moving furniture and equipment for lessons and events.
• Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and decorating tasks where appropriate.
• Open/close the school site and manage security and alarm procedures.
• Monitor contractors and visitors on site when required.
• Maintain outdoor areas, playgrounds and sports facilities.
• Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies.
• Follow all health, safeguarding and security procedures.
