Job summary

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking a School Caretaker to start as soon as possible. The role is 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, with a two-week rotating shift pattern: Week 1 Morning 7:00–15:00 Mon–Thu, Fri 7:00–14:30; Week 2 Afternoon 11:00–19:00 Mon–Thu, Fri 11:30–19:00.

DBS required and hours may vary during holidays. The caretaker will maintain school premises, handle lighting, heating, decoration, security, and minor repairs under the Headteacher or supervisor.

Qualifications

• An Enhanced DBS is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Lighting and heating: operate heating plant and maintain boiler/plant rooms and report defects.
• Cleaning: organise cleaning staff and ensure classroom and premises cleanliness.
• School Premises: unlock in morning, secure building in evening, check for damage or vandalism.
• School premises maintenance: carry out minor repairs and maintain storage areas.
• Monitoring of contractors work on site: coordinate repairs beyond caretaker capability and monitor contractor work.
• Ad-hoc emergencies: respond to emergencies as required.
• Resources: use maintenance tools and manage stock and safety of resources.
