Job summary

Pleckgate High School is recruiting a General technician for a 37 hours per week, term-time only contract. You will support lessons, prepare and check equipment, and ensure health and safety compliance across classrooms and labs.

The role requires COSHH knowledge, strong communication, and general technician experience. You will manage resources within the department budget, repair equipment, and help maintain a safe, well-equipped learning environment for students.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs or equivalent are required.
• Confident communicator with strong verbal and written skills.
• Knowledge of COSHH regulations is expected.
• General technician experience is required.
• Ability to self-manage, organise and prioritise tasks under pressure.
• Qualification in Health & Safety and fire prevention is preferred.
• ICT applications and email experience are expected.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers and pupils during lessons under direction of Heads of Department.
• Collect, set up and check equipment for practical lessons.
• Ensure rooms and resources meet health and safety rules.
• Put away equipment after lessons.
• Manage equipment, supplies and work within the department budget.
• Repair, maintain and modify equipment and teaching aids as required.
