Job summary

Bright Star Talent Limited is partnering with a Good-rated high school in Skelmersdale to recruit a reliable Science Technician. You will support practical Science lessons, prepare and stock equipment, and ensure laboratories are safe, clean and well-equipped for daily activities.

Working closely with Science teachers, you will help with demonstrations across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, maintain records of equipment and supplies, and help create a positive learning environment for students

Qualifications

• Experience as Science Technician or in a lab setting.
• Interest in science and practical learning.
• Strong organisation and time-management.
• Attention to detail.
• Knowledge of lab health and safety.
• Ability to work independently and within a science department.
• Good communication with staff and students.
• Positive and professional approach in a busy school.
• Commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people.
• Enhanced DBS check suitable for educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for practical Science lessons.
• Supporting teachers with practical demonstrations and experiments across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
• Ensuring laboratories are clean, organised and ready for lessons.
• Maintaining and safely storing scientific equipment, chemicals and resources.
• Carrying out routine checks and reporting any damaged or faulty equipment.
• Following all relevant health and safety procedures.
• Preparing resources and materials in line with lesson requirements.
• Supporting teachers and students during practical activities where required.
• Maintaining accurate records of equipment and stock levels.
• Assisting with the smooth running of the Science department.
• Ensuring laboratories provide a safe and positive learning environment.
