Job summary

Ponteland High School is seeking a Science Technician to join the Science department on Band 3, 37 hours per week during term time plus 10 days. The role supports teachers and contributes to the smooth running of the laboratory.

The successful candidate will be organised, hard-working and flexible, with a commitment to health and safety and safeguarding of students. You will be part of a team of four technicians, playing a key role daily.

Qualifications

• Experience in assisting teachers with practical science lessons.
• Experience maintaining stocks of chemicals and equipment.
• Commitment to health and safety in the laboratory.
• Safeguarding of students and a professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Assisting teachers in preparing for practical science lessons.
• Preparing and setting out equipment and materials for lessons.
• Promote health and safety in the laboratory.
