Job summary

Concept Resources is recruiting a School Catering Assistant to support a busy primary school in Haywards Heath. The role is a daytime, 20-hour-per-week position, Monday to Friday, with hours 10:00–14:00. You will help prepare meals, serve pupils and staff, and maintain kitchen hygiene under supervision.

The position is temporary until 23 October 2026, with pay at £13.50 per hour. Food Safety Level 2 is essential; DBS check is preferred. Previous catering or school-meal experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• Must hold Food Safety Level 2 certificate.
• DBS check preferred.
• Previous catering or school meals experience is desirable.
• Good understanding of food hygiene standards.
• Reliable and punctual, able to work in a school environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of school meals.
• Serve meals to pupils and staff.
• Set up dining and service areas.
• Support kitchen team during lunch service.
• Wash up and clean kitchen equipment; surfaces and dining areas.
• Follow hygiene and allergen procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
