Job summary

Concept Resources in Hassocks is recruiting a School Catering Assistant to support the primary school kitchen with meals during daytime shifts (10:00–14:00), 20 hours per week. This temporary position runs until 23 October 2026, offering practical experience in school catering and food hygiene.

Responsibilities include meal prep, serving, setting up dining areas, assisting during lunch service, cleaning, and maintaining a safe, hygienic kitchen environment in line with school policies.

Qualifications

• Food Safety Level 2 certificate – essential.
• Enhanced DBS preferred.
• Catering or kitchen experience preferred.
• Good understanding of food hygiene standards.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Able to work Monday to Friday in a school environment.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of school meals.
• Serving meals to pupils and staff.
• Setting up dining and service areas.
• Supporting the kitchen team during lunch service.
• Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipment.
• Cleaning work surfaces, kitchen and dining areas.
• Following food hygiene and allergen procedures.
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
