Job summary

Concept Resources is seeking a School Catering Assistant for a busy primary school in Burgess Hill. The role is Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 2:00pm, totaling 20 hours per week, and is a temporary position until 23 October 2026. You will help prepare meals and serve pupils and staff in a daytime school setting.

Responsibilities include setting up dining areas, supporting lunch service, cleaning equipment, and maintaining hygiene standards. DBS preferred, Food Safety Level 2 essential.

Qualifications

• Food Safety Level 2 certificate – essential.
• Enhanced DBS preferred.
• Previous catering/kitchen or school-meals experience preferred.
• Good understanding of food hygiene standards.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Comfortable working within a school environment.
• Able to work Monday to Friday for the duration of the assignment.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of school meals.
• Serving meals to pupils and staff.
• Setting up dining and service areas.
• Supporting the kitchen team during lunch service.
• Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipment.
• Cleaning work surfaces, kitchen and dining areas.
• Following food hygiene and allergen procedures.
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
