Job summary

Concept Resources is recruiting a School Catering Assistant to work at a busy primary school in East Grinstead (RH19 3TY). The daytime role runs Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 2:00pm, totaling 20 hours per week, on a temporary basis until 23 October 2026.

You will assist with meal preparation, serve meals to pupils and staff, set up dining areas, support lunch service, and maintain kitchen hygiene in line with Food Safety Level 2 requirements. DBS check preferred.

Qualifications

• Food Safety Level 2 certificate – essential
• Enhanced DBS preferred
• Previous catering, kitchen or school-meals experience preferred
• Good understanding of food hygiene standards
• Reliable and punctual
• Comfortable working within a school environment
• Able to work Monday to Friday for the duration of the assignment

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of school meals
• Serving meals to pupils and staff
• Setting up dining and service areas
• Supporting the kitchen team during lunch service
• Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipment
• Cleaning work surfaces, kitchen and dining areas
• Following food hygiene and allergen procedures
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
