Job summary

The Education Network North is seeking an IT Technician to support a mainstream secondary school in Durham. You will provide first and second-line technical support for staff and students, and help keep classroom technology functioning effectively.

Areas include Windows/Microsoft 365 support, hardware and network troubleshooting, and active directory administration. This temporary role offers a hands-on opportunity in a school setting with a focus on safeguarding and data protection.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting Windows OS and Microsoft 365.
• Knowledge of computer hardware, networking and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Active Directory.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Experience in a school or educational environment desirable.
• Understanding of cybersecurity and data protection best practice.
• Awareness of safeguarding requirements within schools.

Responsibilities

• Provide helpdesk-based technical support to staff and students.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printing and network issues.
• Install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops, iPads and devices.
• Set up classroom technology including interactive displays, projectors and AV equipment.
• Support Microsoft 365 applications and user accounts.
• Assist with software deployment and operating system updates.
• Maintain inventories of ICT equipment and software licences.
• Coordinate warranty repairs and liaise with external IT suppliers.
• Support cybersecurity, endpoint security and patch management processes.
• Report security incidents following safeguarding and data protection protocols.
