Job summary

The Education Network North is seeking an IT Technician for a mainstream secondary school in Durham. This temporary role involves providing frontline technical support to staff and students, ensuring IT systems and classroom technology run smoothly.

You will diagnose hardware and software issues, manage devices and collaborate on cybersecurity, safeguarding and GDPR procedures. A practical, customer-focused IT professional with school experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, networking and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with Active Directory.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
  • Experience in a school/educational environment is desirable.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity and data protection best practices.
  • Awareness of safeguarding requirements within schools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-line technical support via the school helpdesk.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printing and network issues.
  • Install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops, iPads and other devices.
  • Set up and maintain classroom technology, including interactive displays and AV equipment.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications and user accounts.
  • Assist with software deployment and OS updates.
  • Maintain inventories of ICT equipment and software licences.
  • Carry out repairs and upgrades where needed.
  • Prepare and deploy devices for staff and students.
  • Coordinate warranty repairs and liaise with external IT suppliers.
  • Support cybersecurity, endpoint security and patch management.
  • Report security incidents following safeguarding and GDPR procedures.
