Job summary

REAch2 Academy Trust is seeking a proactive School Caretaker to manage caretaking, maintenance, cleaning and security across our school site. You will ensure a safe, clean and welcoming environment for students and staff, coordinating with the Headteacher and on-site contractors.

The role requires knowledge of health and safety law, ability to lead teams, and hands-on maintenance skills. A flexible, solution-focused approach and good IT literacy are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in facility management and property upkeep.
• Ability to supervise on-site contractors.
• Strong knowledge of Health and Safety Law.
• Ability to maintain maintenance records and risk assessments.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• DIY skills: painting, carpentry, plumbing basics.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Flexible, solution-focused, and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Oversee security, cleanliness, porterage, and routine maintenance.
• Monitor contractors and refurbishments.
• Maintain machinery and plant; ensure safe environment.
• Advise Head Teacher on improvements and carry out planned maintenance.
• Lead on-site teams and coordinate schedules.
