Aspire People are recruiting for a School Caretaker in Central Manchester to help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming school environment. You will manage day-to-day maintenance, security, and general upkeep, working closely with leaders and the site team.

The role requires a practical, hands-on approach, reliability, and strong organisational skills. DBS checks and references are part of the compliance process for a busy secondary school setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a caretaker, premises, maintenance or facilities role.
• Experience working within a school or similar environment is desirable.
• A practical and hands-on approach to maintenance.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• A reliable, professional and proactive attitude.
• The ability to work around staff and students in a busy secondary school environment.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school premises
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
• Ensuring the school site is clean, safe and well maintained
• Monitoring and maintaining the security of the building and grounds
• Completing routine checks and reporting any issues
• Assisting with deliveries, contractors and visitors
• Supporting with setting up and moving furniture and equipment when required
• Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed
• Responding promptly to maintenance and site-related issues
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school site
