Job summary

Glebedale School in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a School Maintenance Worker to keep buildings safe, welcoming and running smoothly. You will work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, in a permanent role starting October 2026, with a salary up to £30,000 per annum.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, urgent repairs, upkeep of buildings and grounds, and preparation of rooms for activities, while upholding health and safety standards. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, facilities, caretaking or similar role.
• Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs.
• Good awareness of health and safety and safe systems of work.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
• Strong communication and service-focused attitude.
• Full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance across the school site, including checks and minor repairs.
• Respond to faults and complete urgent repairs to keep spaces safe.
• Support upkeep of buildings and grounds for a clean, well-presented environment.
• Prepare rooms and facilities for day-to-day use and activities.
• Work with site processes for reporting, recording and prioritising tasks.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Liaise with colleagues to communicate maintenance needs clearly.
