Job summary

Glebedale School, part of Outcomes First Group, is seeking a School Maintenance Worker in Stoke-on-Trent to carry out routine maintenance, respond to faults, and help keep buildings and grounds in a safe, welcoming condition. You’ll prepare rooms, report tasks, and coordinate with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

Applicants should have hands-on maintenance experience, a practical troubleshooting approach, good health and safety awareness, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

  • Experience in maintenance, facilities, caretaking or similar role.
  • Practical troubleshooting ability.
  • Good awareness of health and safety and safe systems of work.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Good communication skills and a positive, service-focused attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills over time.
  • Full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out routine maintenance across the school site, including planned checks and minor repairs.
  • Responding to faults and completing urgent repairs to ensure spaces remain safe and functional.
  • Supporting the upkeep of buildings and grounds, helping maintain a clean, well-presented environment.
  • Assisting with the preparation of rooms and facilities for day-to-day use and school activities.
  • Working with site processes for reporting, recording and prioritising tasks.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, including safe working practices.
  • Liaising with colleagues so maintenance needs are communicated clearly and addressed efficiently.
