Job summary

Travail Employment Group is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for an educational site in Harrogate. The role involves opening/closing buildings, routine maintenance, basic plumbing, repairs and health and safety compliance.

You will work 35 hours per week in rotating shifts (6:00–1:30, 12:00–7:30) with an on-call rota and receive £30,800 per year including on‑call allowance. A full UK driving licence and enhanced DBS check are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance, facilities or caretaking.
• Able to perform basic plumbing, joinery and decorating.
• Experience with planned maintenance schedules.
• Organised with ability to manage a varied workload.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Willing to undertake Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure buildings daily.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance.
• Perform security checks and fire alarm tests.
• Undertake minor repairs and decorating.
• Assist with plumbing, joinery and handyman tasks.
• Install and maintain fixtures and fittings.
• Liaise with contractors to ensure work is safe and high quality.
• Complete maintenance records and inspections.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed.
