Job summary

Thomas Franks Ltd is seeking a friendly, reliable Dining Hall Assistant for a 20-hour-per-week role in London (SE3). The position supports the smooth delivery of food and service within a school catering environment, with a focus on creating a welcoming dining experience and high standards of cleanliness and safety.

The role involves serving meals, assisting children during meal times, and working closely with the kitchen and catering team to ensure efficient, high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, school or customer service environment is desirable.
• Experience of working with children is desirable but not essential.
• A genuine interest in food and providing excellent customer service.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support the serving of food and drinks to children, staff and guests as required.
• Encourage positive and healthy eating habits and provide a friendly and supportive service.
• Ensure children with food allergies or intolerances receive the correct meals and follow all allergen procedures.
• Follow food hygiene, health and safety and safeguarding procedures at all times.
• Set up the dining hall before service and ensure it is clean, tidy and ready for use.
• Clear tables and clean the dining hall following meal service.
• Work closely with the kitchen and catering team to ensure an efficient and high-quality service.
• Provide a welcoming and professional customer service experience.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised dining hall environment.
• Carry out other reasonable duties required to support the catering operation.
