Job summary

Wayman Education in West London is seeking a reliable School Caretaker / Site Assistant to join the facilities team. You will help keep the school site safe, clean, and fully operational for pupils and staff, working with the Premises Manager on daily maintenance, security, and safety checks.

The role offers stable hours, weekly PAYE pay rates, potential overtime during busy periods, and a clear path to a permanent contract.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Caretaker/Site Assistant or similar role in a school is preferred.
• Good practical DIY skills with awareness of Health & Safety standards (COSHH, manual handling, working at heights).
• Reliable, punctual, physically fit and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to process a new one.

Responsibilities

• Site Security: opening/closing grounds, alarms, gates, daily checks.
• General Maintenance & Repairs: basic DIY, plumbing, carpentry, painting and repairs.
• Health & Safety Compliance: routine checks including fire alarms, emergency lighting, Legionella, playground inspections.
• Grounds & Porterage: move furniture, set up layouts for events, accept deliveries, maintain outdoor areas.
• Contractor Liaison: escort visitors and ensure on-site safety.
