TeacherActive is recruiting reliable Site Managers / Caretakers to provide temporary and casual cover across schools and educational settings in the West Midlands.

You will help keep school premises safe, secure, clean and well maintained, supporting a positive environment for pupils, staff and visitors. Suitable for those with prior School Site Manager or Caretaker experience and a flexible, independent approach.

Qualifications

• Has prior experience as a School Site Manager or Caretaker.
• Experience as a Site Manager in other settings is acceptable.
• Willing to undertake temporary and casual assignments.
• Strong practical maintenance and general site-management skills.
• Solid awareness of health and safety requirements.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
• Good communication and organisational abilities.
• Comfortable working in a school environment.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school premises.
• Carry out routine site and security checks.
• Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs.
• Monitor the general condition of the site.
• Support health and safety procedures across the premises.
• Report maintenance concerns and hazards.
• Liaise with school staff, contractors and visitors.
• Assist with cleanliness and presentation of the site.
• Respond to urgent site issues when required.
• Ensure a safe environment for pupils and staff.

Introduction to the Role

TeacherActive is looking to recruit reliable and experienced Site Managers / Caretakers to provide temporary and casual cover across schools and educational settings throughout the West Midlands.

This role would be ideal for somebody who has previously worked as a School Site Manager, Caretaker or Site Manager and is happy to undertake flexible, casual assignments when schools require additional site support or cover.

You will play an important role in ensuring school premises remain safe, secure, clean and well maintained, helping to create a positive environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Candidate Requirements

The successful Site Manager / Caretaker will ideally:

• Have previous experience working as a School Site Manager or Caretaker.
• Alternatively, have relevant previous experience working as a Site Manager.
• Be willing to undertake temporary and casual assignments.
• Have good practical maintenance and general site management skills.
• Have a strong awareness of health and safety.
• Be reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
• Have strong communication and organisational skills.
• Be comfortable working within a school environment.
• Be flexible regarding assignments and working hours where required.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on the individual school and assignment, responsibilities may include:

• Opening and securing the school premises.
• Carrying out routine site and security checks.
• Completing basic maintenance and minor repairs.
• Monitoring the general condition of the school site.
• Supporting health and safety procedures across the premises.
• Reporting maintenance concerns and potential hazards.
• Liaising with school staff, contractors and external visitors.
• Supporting with the cleanliness and presentation of the school site.
• Responding to urgent site issues when required.
• Ensuring the premises provide a safe environment for pupils and staff.

Compliance Requirements

All applicants will need to:

• Provide two professional references from recent employers.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service, where possible.
• Be willing to obtain a new Enhanced DBS through TeacherActive if they do not currently hold a suitable certificate.
• Have the Right to Work in the UK.
• Complete TeacherActive's required safeguarding and compliance checks before commencing work.
