Job summary

Merryfields School in Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, is seeking an enthusiastic Ancillary Assistant to join the team on a maternity cover basis from January 2027. The role is part-time, term-time only, with a 32.5-hour week and a salary paid over 12 months.

You will support the Class Teacher in preparing the classroom, maintaining resources, and assisting children with personal needs and learning. Training will be provided, with opportunities for ongoing CPD and career progression within the

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children in a school, nursery, or care setting is preferred, but not required as full training will be provided.
• We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, drive and a commitment to supporting children’s needs.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well to children and adults.

Responsibilities

• Support the Class Teacher in preparing the classroom for lessons and maintaining equipment and resources.
• Assist children with personal needs and general health, supporting their learning and individual needs.
• Follow directions from the class teacher and contribute to a caring, inclusive school environment.
