Job summary

Burnopfield Primary School in the North East of England is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a temporary maternity cover. The role is full-time (32.5 hours weekly, 8:30am-3:30pm), term-time plus two weeks, with start in January 2027.

Visits to the school are welcomed with an appointment on Monday 2 November at 4pm. The post includes supporting pupils, including those with SEND, and helping pupils become more independent learners within an inclusive school environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children in a primary school setting.
• Ability to work flexibly and adapt to pupil needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare.
• Willingness to undertake DBS disclosure and safeguarding training.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for pupils including those with SEND.
• Encourage participation in social and academic processes and promote independence.
• Carry out work/care/support programmes to enable access to learning and assist the teacher.
