Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a Systems Engineer to support enterprise-scale cloud, on-premise infrastructure and platform services in a hybrid Reading environment. The role focuses on Azure administration, Windows/Linux, and container platforms, with a bias towards automation and reliability.

You will work with senior engineers on a range of technologies including Kubernetes/OpenShift, virtualization, and monitoring to ensure smooth operation and incident resolution.

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Up to three years' experience in infrastructure support, systems administration, cloud support or technical operations.
• Understanding of enterprise infrastructure and cloud computing technologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Support the administration and operation of cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
• Maintain and support Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Assist with the deployment, configuration and management of Microsoft Azure services.
• Support virtualisation and enterprise hosting platforms.
• Assist with the administration of Kubernetes and OpenShift environments.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, availability and capacity.
• Support incident resolution, problem management and service request activities.
• Assist with backup, disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
• Implement infrastructure changes in line with established standards and procedures.
• Contribute to automation and Infrastructure as Code initiatives.
• Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Work closely with senior engineers to resolve technical issues and enhance service reliability.
