Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop and test safety-critical software for aircraft flight systems, focusing on control laws and data manipulation algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink.

You will deploy code to target hardware, perform real-world flight testing near Bedfordshire, and contribute to requirement definition, verification, and V&V activities. A National Security Vetting clearance (SC) is required.

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Experience in using MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience in designing and commissioning control systems.
• National Security Vetting clearance (SC) required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test safety-critical software for flight systems.
• Contribute to requirements and generate flight control laws.
• Verify and validate via bespoke simulations; deploy to target hardware.
• Conduct real-world flight testing at the test facility near the office.
• Present testing findings in reports or customer-facing presentations.
• Contribute to SOPs, continuous improvement of methods, and quality targets.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team with strong communication.
