Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop and test safety-critical software for aircraft flight systems. You will contribute to requirements, use MATLAB/Simulink to create flight control laws, and deploy software to hardware with validation through simulations and flight testing near the office.

The role requires a degree in aerospace engineering, hands-on control-system experience, and a National Security Vetting clearance to SC level or ability to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Essential degree in aerospace engineering or similar field.
• Understanding of aerodynamics and flight mechanics and their impact on flight control.
• Experience using MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience designing and commissioning control systems.
• Existing National Security Vetting clearance to SC level or ability to gain it.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art sensing systems and UAS experience.
• Proficiency in C++, Java, Python; version control with Git.
• Experience with safety-critical software or DO-178/ED-20x standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety-critical software for flight systems.
• Contribute to requirements definition and deploy software to target hardware.
• Perform verification/validation via bespoke simulations and real-world flight tests.
• Present testing findings in reports or customer-facing presentations.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to improve processes and methods.
