Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop, test and maintain safety-critical software for autonomous flight systems. You will work on requirements, model-based design in MATLAB/Simulink, and deploy code to target hardware with real-world flight tests at our Bedfordshire facility.

The role requires a degree in aerospace engineering, hands-on control systems experience, and an active SC clearance.

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience in designing and commissioning control systems.
• Existing SC Clearance is required.
• Desirable: Guidance/navigation/control for fixed/rotary wing vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain safety-critical software for flight systems.
• Contribute to requirements definition and model-based design.
• Use MATLAB/Simulink to generate flight control laws and data algorithms.
• Deploy software to target hardware and conduct real-world flight tests.
• Present testing findings in reports and customer-facing presentations.
• Support development of standard operating processes and continuous improvement.
