Job summary

Government Recruitment Service seeks an experienced microbiologist for a Salmonella Technical Officer role. You will support APHA by auditing laboratories, overseeing DAL testing labs, and producing reports to ensure compliance with Defra standards. Travel to multiple sites across the UK is required.

The fixed-term post ends 31 March 2028. Location is Carmarthen, with a full-time schedule and a competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Experience as microbiologist with laboratory auditing exposure.
• Ability to provide training and advisory services.
• Knowledge of ISO17025/17043 standards is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide external and internal auditing and training across UK locations.
• Oversee performance of Defra-approved Salmonella testing labs under CSPO.
• Audit laboratories, write reports, and support DALs quality assurance.
