Job summary

James Adams is recruiting a Sales Manager for a UK technology and Managed Services business, leading a small team of Account Managers and Business Development Managers focused on SMB. This is a hands-on leadership role, inheriting an existing team and driving performance through coaching and structure.

The role is based in Sheffield with hybrid working. The package includes up to £65,000 base, a £6,000 car allowance and commission; base salary is negotiable and reflects experience.

Qualifications

• Experienced Sales Managers or Team Leaders from MSP/VAR/IT solutions/tech services environments.
• Experience managing salespeople selling into SMB customers.
• Knowledge of Managed Services, Cloud, Microsoft, Cyber Security, Connectivity, Networking, UC and Professional Services.
• Coaching-focused leadership rather than purely numbers-driven management.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a small team of Account Managers and Business Development Managers.
• Drive performance across new-logo acquisition and existing-account growth.
• Run regular 1-2-1s, pipeline reviews, forecasting and performance conversations.
• Help the team identify opportunities to increase customer spend and wallet share.
• Support BDMs with new-business strategy and complex sales cycles.
• Develop a high-performance sales culture with close coaching alignment.
• Collaborate with technical and wider commercial teams to convert opportunities.
• Maintain visibility of pipeline, activity, forecasting and individual performance.
