We’re looking to recruit an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to create and prepare estimates for customer enquiries, follow up on quotations to generate orders and provide expert guidance internally and externally on technical and commercial queries.

Reporting into the Sales & Estimating Office Manager, this role will join a team of experienced Estimators to support the growth of sales within Steelway. We’re looking for talented individuals with experience in a similar estimating role and with good knowledge of engineering and fabrication processes – whether you are on a rapid personal growth trajectory at the start of your career, or more seasoned in your field, we’d like to hear from you.

The Sales & Estimating department within our business is responsible for dealing with and responding to customer enquiries, producing quotes and receiving and managing orders into the business.

Responsibilities

• Working from details provided with enquiries, generate a concept design/material take off schedule, complying with relevant specifications and standards that is sufficient to enable an estimate to be completed.
• Using company tools, process the quotation to generate a quotation value.
• Using company templates, produce a detailed descriptive quotation and issue to the customer.
• Update company systems with all quotation activity, such that systems remain live at all times.
• Where appropriate, and as directed by the Sales & Estimating Office Manager, follow up quotations via email and telephone and update relevant systems with the status.
• Where requested, attend on and off site meetings or virtual meetings with the customer to ensure the timely progress of enquiries and ensuring the best possible chance of success in securing these.
• Review commercial and contractual documentation and negotiate terms in line with company policy.
• On receipt of an order, raise project folder and all other necessary paperwork, or work with Sales & Estimating Administrator to ensure project folder and all other necessary paperwork is raised accordingly.
• Provide expert guidance internally and externally on technical and commercial queries.
• Someone with a strong general broad based engineering/fabrication background.
• Has demonstrable sales & estimating experience in a similar industry or sector.
• You will have the ability to read engineering drawings.
• Have strong PC skills.
• Good interpersonal & telephone manner, confident speaking to & dealing with customers, suppliers & internal departments.
