Property Surveyor (Peripatetic)

Location: Flexible - Covering Luton, Watford, Coventry and Derby

Salary: Circa £41,722 pro rata, depending on experience

Contract: 6 month Fixed Term Contract

The Role:

We are seeking a skilled Peripatetic Property Surveyor to take on a key home-based role managing property investment, inspection, and major repairs across our UK portfolio. Reporting to the national Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for budgets of £1.75m - £2.5m and play a crucial role in ensuring our properties maintain high quality and compliance standards while delivering timely services. We have multiple opportunities within our growing surveyor teams, with a focus on regionalising roles to minimise travel and enhance project delivery within specific business areas

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage delivery of major repairs, investment, and project activities, ensuring properties remain in good condition within budget and strategy targets.
  • Driving the successful contract administration and delivery of key national projects. Collaborate with housing/care operations and contractors to deliver high-quality, resident-focused services.
  • Work with the Strategic Partnership Team to produce accurate delivery and financial forecasts and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Undertake regular site visits, engaging with operational colleagues and residents to ensure actions are implemented effectively.

About You:

  • You are a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in property management and building pathology. You bring:
  • At least 3 years of experience managing property activities in a housing environment, with expertise in social housing maintenance or planned investment.
  • Extensive knowledge of building pathology and remediation actions, with experience in project management for investment or maintenance.
  • Experience in decarbonisation projects and interpreting operational data to inform service delivery planning.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to think creatively, solve complex building problems, and deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Significant experience in building pathology within housing and working towards MRICS or MCIOB status (desirable).
