Job description

As a global, private equity-backed corporate business, we operate at pace with demanding customers in the construction, healthcare, and education markets. We are seeking a Regional Sales Director / Operations Director to oversee approximately A GBP 80 million P&L across the North West of England, demonstrating collaborative leadership, strategic awareness, and a balanced sales and operations background.

Salary: A GBP 110,000 - A GBP 130,000 + 30% STIP

Location: Home-based, covering the North West of the UK (e.g., Liverpool, Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Chester, Crewe, Derby, Stockport, Bolton)

Job Description: Regional Sales & Operations Director

You will play a vital role in directing the operational and strategic course for your region, ensuring smooth operations and driving significant growth. We seek a candidate with strong commercial acumen who can implement strategies, lead process transformations, and exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage 4-6 depot locations with circa A GBP 80 million P&L and A GBP 30 million EBITDA, overseeing operational and sales professionals.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of 7-10 direct and 100-150 indirect colleagues, focusing on people development and succession planning.
  • Execute sales strategies to ensure profitable growth with key clients, including major construction contractors.
  • Promote a safety-first culture, driving transformational change emphasizing safety, service, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Operate under high demands and expectations from private equity owners, working with pace and intensity, with rewards for high performance.

Person Specification:

  • Proven experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or similar business (construction, food, automotive, pharmaceuticals, or larger corporations).
  • Experience leading and developing teams of 5-10 direct and 60+ indirect reports.
  • Management style characterized by visibility, approachability, knowledge, and accountability.
  • Experience managing a P&L of A GBP 20 million+ with a focus on profitable growth.
  • Background in commercial and operational roles, with knowledge of continuous improvement, transformational change, and M&A integration.
