Job description
Description

The Sales Development Representative (SDR) plays a pivotal role in driving growth across our UK telecoms and managed services business. The purpose of this role is to generate high-quality outbound pipeline, identify and engage senior IT stakeholders, and create qualified opportunities that support our direct, Preconnect, wholesale, and existing account sales channels.

Working closely with the Director of Sales Development & GTM, the SDR ensures a consistent flow of well-qualified prospects into the sales organisation. The role exists to strengthen our market reach, improve conversion rates through disciplined outreach, and contribute directly to the business’s commercial performance by feeding a predictable, data‑driven sales engine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute targeted outbound outreach sequences to CIOs, IT Directors, Procurement teams, and Network / Infrastructure stakeholders across the UK telco / MSP landscape.
  • Generate qualified opportunities to feed new business, existing account growth, Preconnect partners, and channel teams.
  • Research and prioritise accounts based on segmentation frameworks provided by GTM leadership.

Drive consistent top-of-funnel activity to support predictable pipeline generation.

  • Partner with Marketing and Sales leadership to run cutting‑edge outbound campaigns that stand out in a crowded telecoms and managed services market.
  • Support the wholesale team in sourcing and qualifying new partner leads.
  • Maximise conversion from events, webinars, and marketing campaigns by following up quickly and professionally.
  • Ensure high‑quality handover of qualified leads into the relevant AE or channel owner.
  • Adhere to defined qualification frameworks to improve conversion and forecasting accuracy.
  • Use sales productivity tools (LinkedIn, Cognism, outreach platforms) to run efficient, scalable prospecting workflows.
  • Track individual KPIs and contribute to weekly reviews with the Director of Sales Development & GTM to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop a strong understanding of our connectivity, UCaaS, security, and managed services portfolio.
  • Articulate the value proposition clearly to technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on UK telco / MSP market dynamics, competitor positioning, and evolving customer challenges.
Essential Requirements
  • Proven customer service experience, with the ability to engage confidently with customers via direct conversations, email, and phone, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and solution‑focused communication.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex concepts clearly and engaging senior IT decision‑makers with confidence and credibility.
  • High level of organisation and discipline, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and follow structured outreach processes while working to deadlines.
  • Motivated by targets, personal accountability, and continuous improvement, with a demonstrable track record of meeting goals and proactively seeking ways to improve performance.
  • Proven problem‑solving ability, able to quickly understand customer needs, identify obstacles, and apply logical, structured thinking to recommend or elevate appropriate solutions.
  • Curious and resourceful, with the ability to research prospects, understand their challenges, and tailor messaging to drive high‑quality engagement.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and modern sales engagement tools (e.g., LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Cognism), with the ability to learn and adopt new systems quickly.
  • Resilient and adaptable, comfortable handling objections, learning from feedback, and maintaining momentum in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience in an SDR, BDR, inside sales, or prospecting‑led role.
  • Demonstrated success in generating outbound pipeline and meeting activity‑based KPIs.
  • Experience selling telecoms, MSP, IT services, SaaS, or related sectors preferred.
  • Understanding of telecoms buying cycles, partner ecosystems, or managed services solutions.
  • A data‑driven mindset with the ability to analyse activity and improve performance.

Whilst the role is predominantly Monday to Friday, a flexible approach to working days and hours as required by the needs of the business is essential for the purposes of activities such as client / industry events and client meetings, which may require travel outside of usual working hours.
