Job summary

Sussex Plumbing Supplies, part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group, is seeking a Sales Assistant in Eastbourne. You will help customers with product advice, pricing, stock availability, and process orders and returns.

You’ll maintain a tidy, safe trade counter, support stock control and fulfilment, and nurture lasting customer relationships. You'll join a friendly team with full product training, a strong emphasis on customer service, and opportunities for career development within SPS

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a builders' merchant, trade counter, sales or retail environment would be an advantage.
• An interest in plumbing, building materials or the wider construction sector
• Strong communication skills and a natural approach to customer service
• Good computer skills and confidence using sales systems
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to work well in a busy team
• Enthusiasm to develop your product knowledge — full product training will be provided

Responsibilities

• Serve trade and retail customers in person and over the phone.
• Assist with product advice, pricing and stock availability, orders, quotations, payments and returns.
• Support customers in finding the right products and solutions.
• Keep the trade counter clean, safe and professional.
• Assist with stock control and order fulfilment.
• Build strong relationships to keep customers coming back.

Location: Eastbourne

Hours: Full-time, permanent — Monday to Friday 07:30–17:00, with Saturday 08:00–12:00 on alternate weeks

Contract: Permanent | Full-time

The role

As a Sales Assistant, you'll be at the heart of the branch, serving trade and retail customers both in person and over the phone. You'll help customers with product advice, pricing and stock availability, process orders, quotations, payments and returns, and support them with finding the right products and solutions. You'll also keep the trade counter clean, safe and professional, assist with stock control and order fulfilment, and build strong relationships that keep customers coming back.
