Job summary

North West Leicestershire GP Federation in the UK is seeking a Salaried GP to support the Primary Care Network. The post holder will be employed by the Federation and based at a GP practice within the PCN, working in a patient‑facing environment under Clinical Directors and the COO.

This part‑time role offers mentorship, a multidisciplinary team, and opportunities for professional development while delivering autonomous care, routine clinics, home visits, and clinical governance aligned with GMC

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Salaried GP to join the North West Leicestershire GP Federation to support the Primary Care Network. GPs are supported and mentored by our Clinical Directors and Chief Operating Officer, and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a patient-facing environment. The post holder will be employed by North West Leicestershire GP Federation and this position would be based at a GP practice within the PCN.

Main duties of the job

To perform asan autonomous general practitioner working independently with other healthcareprofessionals to assess, diagnose and treat the conditions of patientsattending within a primary care setting. To provide expert professional adviceto patients, carers and colleagues whilst maintaining clinical excellence. To be professionally accountable andresponsible for all elements of clinical practice in accordance with the GMCcode of conduct, ensuring the safety of patients and quality of their care is primary.

Job responsibilities

In accordance with the practice rota, as agreed,the post-holder will be available to undertake a variety of duties includingsurgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patientsat home, checking, signing and authorising repeat prescriptions, and dealing withqueries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Making professional, autonomous decisions inrelation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from otherhealthcare workers within the organisation.

Assessing the healthcare needs of patients withundifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors andearly signs of illness in consultation with patients and in line with currentpractice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

Providing counselling and health education.

Admitting or discharging patients to and fromthe caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultationnotes to agreed standards.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acuteand repeat prescriptions.

Prescribing in accordance with the practiceprescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Supporting and leading the team working on site.

Expectation to complete a mandatory induction.

• Included on the Medical Performers List or eligible.
