You’ll also contribute to the ongoing development of our safeguarding approach, supporting continuous improvement and best practice across our portfolio.

This is a hybrid role with flexible location, and we welcome applications from across our operating areas (Midlands, South and East)

We are looking for a confident, proactive communicator who brings a strong customer-centred approach to safeguarding both adults and children. As a Safeguarding Officer you will:
  • Manage a caseload of safeguarding cases, ensuring all work is delivered within agreed frameworks.
  • You will regularly engage with customers by telephone to sensitively gather information, provide reassurance, and offer appropriate safeguarding advice and support.
  • Review safeguarding concerns, gather and assess information, complete risk assessments, and raise alerts to Local Authorities where appropriate.
  • Make support referrals, provide professional advice, and signpost customers to relevant services.
  • Act as one of Orbit’s Designated Safeguarding Leads, supporting customers and colleagues to ensure safety and protection.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key partner agencies, including Local Authorities, MARAC, MAPPA, Fire Service and Police, ensuring Orbit fulfils its role and responsibilities as a landlord.
  • Support organisational learning by contributing to safeguarding data, trends and outcomes, including participation in relevant forums and reviews where required.
  • Represent Orbit professionally in multi-agency settings, serious case reviews and other safeguarding processes as appropriate
  • At least 3 years’ experience of successfully managing safeguarding cases within a housing or local authority environment.
  • A high level of knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice relating to safeguarding adults and children.
  • Proven experience of achieving positive outcomes through effective partnership working.
  • Experience in managing complex caseloads, with proven resilience in maintaining personal wellbeing while supporting others.
  • Ability to deliver a subject-centred, customer-first approach, supporting and protecting customers while enabling sustainable solutions.
  • An innovative and flexible approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and complex written reports.
  • Strong IT literacy and analytical skills, with the ability to understand trends and outcomes.
  • Car owner, with the flexibility to travel to meet the requirements of the role and to support service coverage Monday-Friday 8am-8pm and Saturday 8am-1pm.
